Elko's First Win: Texas A&M Rolls Past McNeese State in Commanding Victory

Station, TX – In a commanding response to last week's heartbreaking loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Texas A&M Aggies bounced back in dominant fashion, securing a decisive 52-10 victory over McNeese State. From the opening whistle, the Aggies were in full control, showcasing their superior athleticism, depth, and execution.

McNeese State, who endured a difficult 1-10 season last year—their lone win coming by forfeit—was unable to match the Aggies’ intensity. Despite their efforts, the Cowboys struggled to find answers against the Aggies' relentless pressure and efficient game plan.

Texas A&M's offense came out firing on all cylinders, quickly establishing a rhythm that left the Cowboys scrambling. Meanwhile, the Aggies' defense suffocated McNeese State’s attempts to gain any offensive momentum, forcing key turnovers and shutting down critical plays.

The Aggies came out blazing, scoring touchdowns on each of their first five drives in a dominant first-half performance.

Le’Veon Moss powered into the end zone with runs of 2 and 6 yards, while Amari Daniels added a 2 yard touchdown burst, extending the Aggies' lead to 21-0 early in the second quarter.

Conner Weigman followed up with two touchdown passes—one for 15 yards and another for 3 yards—pushing Texas A&M's lead to 35-0 with just the second quarter coming to an end.

The Aggies' defense continued to dominate, picking off McNeese quarterback Kamden Sixkiller for the second time. On the following drive, Texas A&M brought in backup quarterback Marcel Reed to take the reins and keep the momentum rolling. Weigman, who struggled with two interceptions in last week’s defeat to Notre Dame, bounced back with a stellar performance, completing 11 of 14 passes for 125 yards in under two quarters of play.

Daniels followed up his first half performance with another rushing touchdown for 7 yards with about 6 minutes remaining in the third quarter of the game taking the game to an astonishing 45-0.

McNeese State finally ended their scoring drought when Sixkiller connected with Jalen Wright for a 10 yard touchdown. This brought the score to 45-7 with 10 minutes left in the game.

As some Aggie fans started to leave early, those who remained were treated to one last electrifying moment. Kyle Field roared back to life as freshman Terry Bussey sprinted for a dazzling 65 yard touchdown run, providing a spectacular finish to the game.

Next week, the Texas A&M Aggies will face their first SEC challenge of the season, squaring off against the Florida Gators at 2:30 p.m. CT in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.
